Dona Rosa
Dona Rosa’s journey to international performer has been a remarkable one. Blinded by meningitis as a child, she left her impoverished family and eventually sold lottery tickets and magazines on the streets of Lisbon, singing as she did so.

Her amazing singing voice proved popular and soon she was earning extra money from her busking and was eventually ‘discovered’, leading to many recordings and over 200 performances world-wide.

'A voice that is timeless and touching' Charlie Gillett

'Portugal’s Dona Rosa is the kind of untutored natural” that every producer must dream of finding. If her story sounds like something out of a fairytale, so does her music…Her delivery gets to the emotional truth of this material in a way more sophisticated performers might struggle to achieve for years.'
The Telegraph, 2007
